Objections, answered

Questions

Not a list of what we would like you to ask. The eleven objections this office actually hears, including the ones that are correct, answered in the order they usually arrive.

Eleven objections

"I could book this myself."

On a one company trip you very often could, and four of the fourteen trips here are one company trips. If you know the resort, the ship or the tour and the dates, do it direct. Where this office earns anything is the join between contracts, and a single contract has none.

"So why would I use an agency at all?"

For the tiers above one. A three company trip produces three cancellation schedules, three deposit dates and two joins that belong to nobody. Somebody has to read all of it and hand you one figure and one document.

"Are you more expensive than booking direct?"

No, and the reason is structural rather than generous: this office adds nothing to what the companies charge. You pay each of them their own price. This agency is paid a commission out of their margin, after you travel and only if you do.

"Then aren't you steering me to whoever pays you most?"

Margins do differ, so the objection is fair. The answer is that steering shows. A traveler sent somewhere that did not suit them does not come back, and a small office runs on people coming back. The check you can actually apply: this site tells you not to use it on a quarter of its own catalog.

"Are you licensed?"

No, and no license number appears anywhere here. West Virginia licenses no travel agency and this company bought no bond. Four states, California, Florida, Hawaii and Washington State, keep a register of businesses that sell travel and hold traveler money; this name is on none of them, which is why no money is held here.

"Who actually takes my money?"

Each company separately, on its own schedule, with its own name on your statement. This site takes no payment at all and has no card field on any page. If a page that looks like this one asks you for one, it is not us.

"Are you the least expensive?"

No claim is made and no price match is offered. Both would be promises about a market this office does not run. What is offered instead is the split on prices, which lets you hold our number against anyone else's, our own competitors and the direct booking included.

"How far ahead should I book?"

It depends on the tier more than the destination. One company trips can often be arranged inside a month. Four company trips need the internal flights and the capped site entries held months ahead, and by the time those are gone the trip is a different trip.

"What if a company goes out of business?"

Its own obligations do not transfer to us, because we never held your money. What we do is act for you in writing, immediately, and tell you honestly what the realiztic recovery is. On a multi company trip the others usually still stand, which is one of the few advantages of separate contracts.

"Do you have reviews?"

None, and the count on this site is zero. Too few travelers have been through this desk yet for a real body of them to exist, and inventing, buying or displaying a rating nobody awarded is the commonest dishonesty in this trade. The section stays empty rather than filled.

"Can you sort out my visa?"

No. This office does not sell or advise on visas, passports or entry rules, for anybody, at any length. The destination's own authority decides those and a guess costs you the trip. We will tell you what we understand the requirement to be and point you at the authority that issues it.

Something not here

Write to [enquiries@travelundercost.com](mailto:enquiries@travelundercost.com) or telephone +1 (304) 346-2140 during Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 9 am to 5:30 pm, Wed to 7 pm Eastern. If several people ask it, it ends up on this page.

it has to match the passport later, so give the full one
used for that and nothing else
rung only if writing cannot settle it
this is the question that changes the shortlist
  • Charged nothing, not for the figure nor for any of the work behind it
  • Committed nothing on either side, and that holds after the figure lands too
  • Card fields here zero, on this page and on every other one

Every box above has its own entry on the privacy page, saying where it goes and for how long. The terms set out what binds whom, which before a booking is nobody.
